OUR Mission
We seek to provide opportunities for the students of Gordon College to develop strength, grit, perseverance, and dependence on God: the ultimate belayer.
Our Teachings
Hold FastThe term "belay" means "to hold fast." It was an old French nautical term before its climbing association today.
In the context that we use it, "on belay" is one of our key commands. It clarifies that there is a belayer holding the climber fast! |
Commitment moveOne of the La Vida lessons that we absorb into our club is the teaching of "commitment moves."
It is an action that requires you to put ultimate trust in your belayer and their training when you attempt a difficult hold. |
The Ultimate belayer
God is our ultimate belayer, catching us and keeping us sage when we make mistakes and fail. As He hold us fast, we in the Gordon College Climbing Club strive to practice doing the same for others.
Who's in charge?
We receive collaborative funding from both La Vida and Gordon College Students Association (GCSA).
Our club space is the La Vida Rock Gym in the Bennett Center at Gordon College, and the majority of our funding for our events comes from GCSA.
As for who's running the club's happenings, check out the "Club Leadership" page of our site!
